Where the Journey Began
Born in Colombia, Chika Toro’s musical journey began in the streets of Sydney, Australia. With nothing but her voice and a guitar, she sang on the streets. She never knew where that path would take her.
Eight years ago, her voice caught the attention of a major DJ from Colombia, who invited her to join him on tour with Silvestre Dangond. What began on the streets of Australia opened the door to stadiums, television, radio and audiences of thousands.
She eventually left her full-time job in Operations Management to dedicate herself completely to music. Then came a profound transformation through plant medicine. Chika began to experience music differently, as a form of connection, expression and healing. She felt called to transform her music.
Today, Chika Toro is a singer, composer, DJ and space holder, creating her own music while blending powerful live vocals with house, shamanic downtempo, Colombian, African and Latin rhythms, and organic electronic sounds.
Her journey has taken her across Colombia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Costa Rica and the Czech Republic.
Today, through DJ sets, voice activations, retreats, festivals, ecstatic dances, and conscious gatherings, Chika brings her music intentionally to awaken expression, unity and connection.
